After visiting Sandals Royal Curacao, I had to share my experience along with some resort facts. When I started to research places where I could experience breath taking views, whilst staying at luxury Hotel at the same time; Sandals Curacao came to mind instantly.
I knew needed to visit a Sandals location where luxury marries nature, summer is all year and rain almost never happens. This makes this Sandals properties‘ outside weddings and events less likely to have issues with the weather.
Whether you are looking to escape for a peaceful solo trip, Romantic getaway, or seeking a perfect location to host your group for an event understanding this property is the key to unlocking flawless luxury experience. The country is peaceful and the resort is calm and beautiful.
Curaçao is one of those countries that will captivate you at first glance. The term “everything under the sun” should be a trademark phrase for this little but amazing country. Sandals Royal Curacao is unlike any other. You get desert, sea and tropics, however never forget, Luxury when staying at this resort.
When I arrived at Curacao International Airport I was greeted by Sandals Resort Agents, they were welcoming. I was offered a drink right away; immediately I started to feel more of an Island Girl than I already am. Well, I could say an Island girl on Vacation. The ride to the resort was courtesy of Sandals. Prior to your check-in date, there will be multiple emails that prompt you to provide your flight details for a seamless beginning of a tropical adventure. The drive was safe, comfortable, and there was no waiting time. Also! Please remember to fill out the form to enter Curacao ahead a time.
The hotel is located at Santa Barbara, which is situated on the southwestern coast of Curaçao. Sandals Royal Curaçao is a relatively new resort for Sandals, as it opened in June 2022. As with all Sandals Resorts, it is an adults-only resort. (However, Beaches Resorts located in Jamaica and Turks are also 5-star options for families!)
When I arrived at Sandals Royal Curacao
When I arrived the beauty of the resort blew me away. I was ready to check in and enjoy my vacation. Even at first glance I could see why this resort is the perfect choice for hosting your Wedding, enjoying your honeymoon or Romantic Getaway.
Sandals Royal Curaçao: The Landscape
This resort is home to 351 luxury rooms and suites with 25 room categories situated on 44 acres of land. It’s a large property with many mini games at random areas and a dedicated station to retrieve a bicycle. I tried riding the bicycle; I never fell but I never went far out of lack of self-trust on that two-wheeler, I have not ridden a bicycle from the age of 10 years old.
All rooms include air conditioning, a king-size bed, a stocked refrigerator (which is restocked every day), an amenity kit, a make-up mirror, a telephone, a private bath and shower, a safe, HD smart televisions, and an iron with an ironing board
Sandals Royal Curaçao also has an intriguing double-layer infinity pool. I absolutely loved it. I was able to do all sorts of underwater gymnastics, and being able to capture it on camera is so captivating from every angle. It’s smacked right in the middle of the resort, and it’s just as beautiful at night as it is in the day. There are three freshwater pools, one natural water pool, and three whirlpools available on the property.property.
Sandals Royal Curaçao is home to eight world-class restaurants and three distinct beachside food trucks—a historic first for the Sandals brand. Food is always one of my absolute favorite highlights of staying at these resorts. Having access to unlimited, freshly prepared gourmet concepts takes the vacation to a whole new level. During lunch, the best place for me was by the food trucks. One thing you should absolutely try is the seafood red curry with white rice. Perfect!”
It’s all-inclusive gourmet meals prepared fresh every time. My favorite restaurant whilst on property for breakfast was Aolos. It had the best well-done steak I have ever had, and the eggs were just as good. I mean, I literally had to order a second serving of steak!
For dinner, I loved the Italian buffet. It was the first place that I visited on my arrival, and it almost became the only place I ate! But in the rule of trying as many varieties as possible, I visited the sushi restaurant and found out that I am really in love with their sushi rolls!
I should have grabbed a picture of the Miso Soup! It was so good if you try that soup you won’t regret it. I could talk about food to the end of this page but it’s time for the Bar to shine.
The Nightlife & Bars
With 13 bars scattered across the property, including premium swim-up bars, you are never more than a few steps away from a top-shelf drink. For me, the best part of the evening was heading to the Bar near the lobby. Sitting there, sipping a perfectly mixed cocktail, and watching the Live entertainment is just euphoric. They serve everything from local Curaçao liqueurs to premium wines and spirits, and it is all completely unlimited. Whether you want a lively, high-energy vibe or a quiet, romantic corner under the stars to chat about a random topic, the resort hits the right note every single night. My favorite drink through out my time was the Spicy Melon Margarita
Activities On Property
Aside from trying your luck on the bicycles or hanging out in the pools, the resort is packed with things to keep you entertained. If you love land sports, they have premium courts for tennis and pickleball. For water lovers, you get unlimited equipment for snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking right off the shore. When I walked on the platform or go Kayaking, I was able to see the fishes clearly. I snapped a few photos of how lush and healthy the sea is. There are times when I was a celebrity among the fishes and a curious sting Wray!
If you or your partner are PADI-Certified scuba divers, the resort includes completely free, daily dive trips to explore the vibrant coral reefs of Curaçao. If you want a more laid-back afternoon, you can find giant lawn chess and various mini-games tucked away into cozy, beautifully landscaped corners of the estate.
The Red Lane® Spa Experience
You cannot talk about the ultimate pampering session here without mentioning the Red Lane® Spa. When I walked into the spa area, the ambient scent of essential oils and tropical botanicals instantly switched my brain into full relaxation mode. They offer an incredible menu of Caribbean-inspired treatments, from full-body massages to hydrating facials that utilize local ingredients. My favorite is always the signature scent found in your powder room.
If you are planning a destination wedding or a romantic getaway, booking a couples massage treatment here is an absolute must. For wedding parties, it is the perfect spot to gather your bridesmaids for some pre-ceremony pampering to calm any big-day jitters before the makeup and hair styling begins.
My Visit to the historic Town of Willemstad
The capital Willemstad is a must go! If you do take this advice and visit you will be wowed by the amazing people, pastel -colors and architecture. Willemstad is the home of the world’s famous floating Emma Bridge, trust me when I say magical!. The best time to visit is around 4:00pm, by this time the town will be on the relatively cooler side so you can enjoy walking around, visiting the shops and seeing the floating Emma Bridge in the day, without much wait to see it when it lights up in the day.
The scene was beautiful, and the water was crystal clear. I really hope you get to view when a ship comes in a watch the dynamics of the Bridge. Having a local explain the root behind this historic village made me appreciate the scenery even more; walking around in the town of Willemstad is very picturesque. Moving around the town is welcoming many of the locals do speak English fluently.
